GLOMESH (2020)
Video / Tape.
Full duration: 5 minutes.
This work was completed during Perth’s lockdown in May 2020, using metallic found sounds from my kitchen and assembled in Ableton. This work is a textural study, exploring the relationship between the visual imagery of Glomesh (a textile) and sound. It is my first attempt at incorporating moving image into my compositional practice.
GLOMESH quotes various well-known disco songs and reflects on disco culture. I transform the disco idiom (for example, the ‘four-to-the-floor’ rhythmic pattern) to evoke the dystopian pandemic epoch—a time in which nightclub culture is restricted.
